The Palatine Township Board voted to appoint Aaron Del Mar, committeeman of the Palatine Township Republican Organization, as the new highway commissioner at its Monday meeting after former commissioner Tom Kaider resigned effective Monday, due to personal and health-related issues.

"It was a pleasure to serve the road district," Kaider said in a news release, praising the road district staff.

Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson said in the release that Del Mar was chosen due to his qualifications, which include a BA in public management, experience as a former Palatine councilman, small business ownership and commitment to the community.
